The Old Presbytery Guest House


The Old Presbytery Guest House is situated in the rural setting of Barkston Ash, situated at the centre of Yorkshire.

It offers the visitor the highest standard of Bed and Breakfast (AA 3 Star Gold Award) accommodation in a beautiful and tranquil location. This elegant house is set on 1.5 acres of landscaped garden surrounded by the rolling Yorkshire countryside.

The house, formally part of the Scarthingwell Estate, has been completely restored and has retained all the elegance and charm of its historic past, possibly been originally a Monks Lodge dating back from the 14th century.

It is conveniently location just 5 minutes drive from the nearest towns of Sherburn in Elmet and Tadcaster. It provides a perfect base for exploring the whole of Yorkshire including the Moors, Dales, the cities of York and Leeds and the scope to pursue many activities including sightseeing, shopping, golf, and walking in the countryside. Towton Battlefield is 2 miles North with a walk and information boards. There are plenty of pubs nearby and many fine restaurants to experience. Good access to the motorway systems, A1, M1, M62.

The guest house comprises of four bedrooms

1 family, 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single, all with tea and coffee making facilities and Free wifi. Full English breakfast or continental served in the breakfast room.

We have recently installed doors on the main entrance. This has a key code system to ensure cars and belongings are safe and only authorised people and guests are allowed in.
